R.M. COURT.
MASTERTON-THIS DAY. Before M, Oaselberg, and Col. McDonald, J.P's BY-LAW CASE. James Pancll was charged by the Borough Inspector with plying for hire at the railway atation Masterton without a license, on March the 17th. Defendantsaidhewasnot aware that it was necessary to have a license to carry passengers, and when asked by the Inspector, recommended tho|officialjto apply to his emplerer Mr Watson of Carterton for the fee. Fined 10s and costs. RABBIT CASES, E. Orbell v Thomas Brown.—Breach of Rabbit Act, 1882, Bth section, failing to destroy rabbits to the satisfaction of the Inspector. Defendant complained of the arbitaiy nature of the Act, having done all in his power to destroy ;the rabbits. The Inspector said the property, consisting of 200. acres, was literally swarmed with the pests. Fined £1 and costs. E. Orbell v Jesse Herbert.—Breach of Rabbit Act, failing to destroy. No appearance of defendant, The Inspector, and sub-Inspector proved that rabbits were on the increase, and that' sufficient steps had not been taken for the abatement of them. Fined £3 and costs. CIVIL CASES. Hood and Shaw v Henry King-Dam-ago for injury to horse whilst on hire. Adjourned till April 15th to enable defendant ijp £[ive his evidence at Woodville, he living at Pahiatua. John Graham v George Hayvrard.— Debt £1414s 3d, for goods supplied. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for J amount and costs,
