& Wellington, this day. yp At a meeting of tho Wellington Special Sottloment, the Chairman explained that t'ho causo of tho delay that had apparently taken placo was that the land had been valued sooner than tho Committeo had anticipated (tho amount of valuation being .£1 per acre). Tho Committee's report was then road. It set forth that J. C. Harris had been appointed Chairman, A. J. McTavish Bon. Treasurer, and Mr C. F. Richmond Secretary, and that Messrs Dawson andMonaghau had boon appointed delegates to visit and report upon the Blocks proposed to be taken up. Tho Government offered two blocks near Eketahuna at £1 per acre, and the Committeo suggested that the Block of 11,000 acres should bo taken up. Tho Committee was satisfied with the Government valuation, and recommended that steps bo taken immediately to allocate the land and ' get it settled. The delegates report was read. : It gave a lengthy and detailed account of the visit to the. block of land, and recommended that the block on tho northern side of the' Masterton selection, and also a piece on the south . side if necessary should be taken up, .if suitable arrangements could be made; • A letter from the Government was. read," accepting the Association's application ,' for Small Farm Blocks of 11,000 acres at A 20san acre. 'The proposal to connect T two blocks near Ekcfcaliiina of 7000 and 4009 acres by the belief : country joining, them, was also approved of providing'the proper allowance;, was,. made. for, a road. . 7915 acras'werc applied for. m tho room;;;;
