MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Saturday. PresentMessrs Beetham (Chairman), Meredith, Dagg, Welch, Johnston, andGtunderson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr H. W. Jackspn, on behajf of certain ratepayers on the South Mauriceville road, wrote, asking that a sum of money be allowed them, for clearing out the drains. The Clerk, was instructed to inform Mr Jackson that a contract was let for work on the same line, and tha application would be attended to,
The Clerk was instructed to arrange with the Aifredtou Road Board re the adjustment of aooounta, and to acknowledge the receipt of a letter from tho Pahiatua Board, and to inform them the money would be paid shortly. Mr W, Benuett wrote asking that a propssed deviation should not bo allowed on the present road at Waikaraka. A resolution was passed that no deviation on the line of road be permitted, except on petition of a majority of tho ward, and only then on the conditions required by Mr Bre'mnor being complied with, as already intimated to Mr Donald by a resolution of tho Board.
11l reply to a request from the Crown Lands Office re deferred payment thirds, the clerk was instructed, 'to. tend the information asked, for,, A p.etititioii from aettlera on the Upper Plain was received asking the Board to expend certain money in improving the road leading from the Upper Plain to the Upper Manaia, The request was granted,
Messrs Jessen and Johnston waitud on the Board, and applied to have something (lone to the road leading though Mauriceville,
It was agreed, tu expend; £3O on the understanding that tfte amount would be refunded as soon as ppssiblo after the new Board Vformed,
It was resolved, that the Clerk gjvo the surface men notice that seir> wages, will be reduced from, fa perday to 6s, after the end of the present month. The following tenders were received for the \yord; on Opaki—W, Corbett, £2O 10s (accepted); T. ft Qiro>ood, £37 10s (declined); Tangney, £33; Gardner & Co., £93 15s; H. Stevens, 10s par chain. For South Mauriceville Road-D, Johansen, £42 5s 6d (accepted); O Olisen, 16s 5d per chain (declined); Tangney, £110; Gardner and Co, £4B; P. Petersen, 14s per chain; G,- Francis, 24s per chain; Lars Larsen, 16a per chain; T. P. Girdwood, £55. Accounts amounting to £192 10s 2d were passed for payment.
