FOOTBALL NOTES.

[By Touohline,]

The koy-note to a revolution in football matters in the Wairarapa wna struck ■ lit the mooting held on Saturday evening, K?hen the resolution waa curried inviting the other Cluba in tho district to combine and form a Wairarapa .Football Union. Sinca 'BO, when tho Wellington Athletic Football Club had to acknowledge the brilliant play of-the Grey town "Invincibles" as being equal to their own, after a most desperate struggle, the Wairarapa Clubs have always found men to represent tho Wellington provinces in their matches, with what success is well known to footbailers, and it will also bo reinomborcd that in the victorious New Zealand team that wont to Sydney, this district was abr&represontcd. As at present constituJHrtlio Wellington Rugby Union is najjjally a Wellington' body ; 'tis true there are delegates from tho Country clubs ippointeci, but tho latter are greatly in tho minority, any question of vital importance can be carried as tho numerous town delegates wish, and, aside from this question the expenses in connection with tho delegates attending the meetings have to bo borne by tho country Clubs—an item to bo taken into consideration if many important meetings are hold. , The questions the footballers of the Wairarapa have to consider are, is it desirable to form a Wairarapa Union to lhanago our own affairs as tho circumstances of tho district warrant, to have our own Senior and Junior Cup matches in the midst of our own supporters, .or ■«'6nd our money to the Wellington Union, incur expenses for our delegates snd teams visiting town and all for what ?. for the honor of playing a final match in Wellington, or having representatives in the Wellington provincial teams! As regards the latter question no doubt the Wairrrapa will always be represented, for should a Union be formed here it would not bo antagonistic to the mother U.iion, but would rally round tho parent in Ji.ne of troublo, and doi. as much to'secure future victory as it has done ■■.in tho past. li is to bo hoped; that both Grey town »nd Carterton will appoint delegates, and I should Hie to'see 1 some froiii "Featherston, at an early date to,-meet; say.at'Car-.' terton, and discuss, the advisability:' of carrying out' thß ; .""Buggestion',-vso that ihould the matter be considered premature it would not be too late to participate in tho events of the":Wellingtpn;|:Fo;otbail: Union this
