The Wanganui match was concluded on Thursday night, the highest prize takers boing Webster, Auckland, 95, £2O; Ross, Napier, 87, £l2; Lloyd, Wanganui, £B, At present the highest aggregates for tho Championship' are, Rifles-Acheson, Riverton, 287 : Downie, Thames, i&; Remington, Wanganui, 282; GSn, Nelson, 280; Maddock, Blenheim, SW, Carbines-Kuchen. Wellington, 309; Parslow, Auckland, 297; Webster, Auckland, 297; Lloyd, Wanganui, 296; Ross, Napier, 294. The weather was beautifully fine, with afresh wind blowing across the ranged and the light Was rather bad. The proceedings commenced with the West Coast match, confined to carbines, and at tho short range gotfd shooting was made, but at 500 yards misses were by no means the exception. Lieut, Ross, of Napier, who won the carbine belt in Auckland, in 1884, however, managed to keep on the target, and making the fair score of 84, secured first prize in the match, and it also gave him tho leading position for tho championship, McKenzie, of Wellington, who finished up with 80, being six points' behind. Parslow and Kuchen burst up at 500 yards, and lost the Premier positions which they had held since Friday. Commenced shortly after lunch, the Canterbury mutch for nllea only was finished, Lieut, Foster, of Wanganui, securing first prize with an average 68, At the GOO yarc's in this inch, shooting was wretchedly poor, of the competitors, did not succeed in hitting the target at all, while'there were many who only scored three or four out a possible 60. The Otago Match, which is the last, counting for belts, commenced at 2.30, and when tiring ceased for thoi day, two o.ut of the three ranges had! been finished. The last range will bo finished in the morning, which will decide the twenties, who fire the final sta«e for the championship, The expected winnora of the belts will bo known to-morrow afternoon, after which the Civilians Match will be fired. The general opinion isthiitßoss will win the carbine bolt, and Acheson tho Rifle belt, The following is the prize list in the Canterbury Match, 300, and 600 yards, for rifles only, and counting for belts, 10 shots at each range. -Lieut, Foster, Wanganui, 68, £lO- - Howell, Taranaki, 63, £7 ;SeK Lee, Auckland, 61, £6; Lieut.
