After considerable dis-i cussion a division was takon with the result that the motion was negatived. 1 The Directors of the Bank of Australasia have declared a dividend for'the half year at the rate of fifteen per cent, per annum, a sum of £20,000 being brought forward and carried to reserve. The weekly report of the Bank of England gives the proportion of reserve to liabilities as 40 per cent., being three per cent., lower than last week. The total reserve of notes and bullion is £14,400,000, a decline of £900,000 during the same period. '
