OUTSIDE THE CHURCH.
To ihe Editor, Sir,—ln reply to " Outside of Church," \ willing to aijroit fjha<i i,t n\ay bo "right' for t, minister o! religion 'to engage in any good workA which hau an indirect bearing on that whioh he is ordained, although the oxpo-' dieney for so doing depends upon liis fitness for such work. In this sense it is right for a minister to preach total abstinence ifit helps his causo, and by so doing he does not leave, but simply traverses his platform, I would even go so far as to say that the whole world is hie platform, and that everything should be made to contribute to the success of his work. But Jcgally, is it right ? Do not tlio Constitutions of the various churches define" the work of a minister! and are not prefers limited tp pM ariaf sample gospel work? I So'lioi kno'w.oft any Article or Constitution which even permits ministers to preach total abatmonee, ; lam, &c., Every Man to Hia Trade, .
