Defendant pleaded that the paper had commented on the Parnelifco party, but that really he was instigated by a third party, who had a grievance against the paper.
Dunedin, this day An unusual claim for insuranco was heard at the District Court yesterday. The plaintiff, a musician, rented rooms from the defendant, and as he wished to have his goods,insured in the room, ho consulted the landlord, and the latter stated he had a margin of £SOO with the Equitable, and the plaintiff could insure within that margin, The plaintiff accordingly paid the premium, and getting further goods, insured them also. A fire occurred by which the plaintiffs goods were damaged,-and he claimed £2OO. For the defence it was stated that plaintiff did not insure the goods nor pay the premium, and that the goods were not of the value alleged, Judgment was given for plaintiff for £127 and costs.
