MISHAP TO THE S.S. WAIHORA.

(United Press Association.) Wellington, This day. News has been received in town that the Waihora, bound from Hobart to Melbourne, struok" near Eddystono Point at 2.1b p.m. on Wednesday, and was beached at Swan Island. The Point is on the eastern coast of Tasmania, and the island is a.few miles above it in Banks Strait, par Cape Portland. No particulars are yet to hand. The passengers and orew have been gaved, The former have been taken on to Low Head, near Launceston, by the steamer Flinders, Ddnedin, this day.

The Waihora Is insured for £49,000, of which £17,000 is in London, £12,000 in the colony and Company's own risk, £2,000, (Reuter's Telegrams.) Melbourne, February 18. The weather continues favorable, and hopes are entertained that the live stick will be safely got ashore. The steamer Etherole andthetug Troucan have been despatched with pumps to Swan Island; It has been arranged that the Southern Cross shall bring on the Waihora's passengers to Melbourne. l '
