MASTERTON AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL RAM FAIR.

The first annual Ram and Ewe Fair under the auspices of tho Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held in Messrs Lowes and lorns sale yards, Renall-street, yesterday, and may be considered a grand success, both as regards the number of entries, the quality of the sheep, and the amount of business transacted. The large and spacious yards, with plenty of accommodation and space for the public most, admirably answered the purposes of the show. The Secretary, Mr R. J. Fitton, had a long and arduous day's work, but he was ably assisted by Mr Toms and three of his employees. They started work at half past four o'clock, and had all the exhibits ticketed in their respective pons before 11 o'clock. The entries, comprised about 700 rams, the principal breeders of the colony being represented in them. There were also a small number of ewes in Roinney and Lincoln.

In rams the principal enquiry was for Lincoliis; Romneys not being in so much demand as last season. Several of the exhibits were of breeds new to the Wairarapa, such as Border Leicester and Shropshire Downs.
