FEDERAL COUNCIL.

(Reuter's Telegrams.)

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)

(From Eeuter's Special Correspondent). Hobart, February 4. In Council this afternoon Mr Service read telegrams which had been received from Mr Murray Smith, the Victorian Agent General, confirming Eeuter's messages already published, relative to the agreement between Germany and France as to the possible occupation by the latter country of the New Hebrides. A select committee was appointed to draw up an address for presentation to Her Majesty the Queen with reference thereto. The Council then adopted a motion recommending common action on the part of all colonies in the matter of granting indemnities in case of life or property sacrificed in tune of war.
