Gabble got a lead of about two length# from the start, Little Scrub ..lying .next and Kakapo, Gentle Annie, and Life Buoy in a bun ch together. Turning into the straight Little Scrub was on the quarters of the leader who, howeVer, slipped and fell. Tho. gray thus got a decided lead, and: passed the lengths aheadof-Kakapo, GontMplnnie third and Life Buoy completely otftof the' 1 race, At tho bush Gentle Annie came up with a rush, and passingKakapo, challenged tlie leader, who, ho wever, quickly drew away , again.
