"The turbulent .element in Paris'," remarks the "Argus" London correspondent, " hav.e.adoptedan ingenious method of keeping in remembrance the New Caledonian sequel to the Oommuhe. Maxime Liabonno, 'ex convict of the Commune,' has just inaugurated 'La .Taverne du Bagne,' which is an exact reproduction of one of the wooden huts that form the convicts camps'at New Caledonia. The attendants at the door wear the blue grey duffekniform-and sword of the penal prison' .warder, r The waiters have donned the scarlet. Bleeves, the trousers-of the latter hue, and "the green cap with stencil number plate which the, French convicts wore up! to 1883, A chain and imitation cannon ball fastened to their feet tinkles as tliey minister to the wants of thirsty souls. Two letters 'T. P.' (tmvamform) are ostentatiously displayed on shoulders, and thighs. Inside, the place is a mere barn, its whitewashed walls covered with most of tho portraits of the Communistic nota bilities in prison garb. There is but one exception, the counterfeit of Henri Rochefort, who wears his ordinary dress, as he did in New Caledonia. There is also a pictorial representation of Rochefort and Pascal Grousett in the boat that landed them in Australia. The' Taverne du Bagne' is expected to become the trysting place of the vilest among the Paris population, and probably the headquarters of the next revolt. ' NOTIOB EXTRAORDINARY.
