ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
~&— — • ( A meeting of the above Board was held J last Tuesday. Present—Messrs D. C. * Macquarie (chairman), Kebboll, Napier, ' Saunders, and Von Reden. , ' The minutes of the, previous meeting ' were read and confirmed, ' The Returning ufficer reported that ' Mr E. Smith had been returned unop- ' posed as a member of the Board; . .; Correspondence was read as follows ; From Mr E. Smith, transferring his contract on Tawataiaroadto Mr H. Dunn. From H. Dunn, accepting the contract on Tawataia road. Resolved, that the transfer of contract on Tawataia road from E. Smith to H. Dunn be agreed to. From W. Clapham, asking for informa-' turn re rates for this year. ' From Property Tax Commissioner, re registered owner of section 172,-Rangi-tumau. From Mr John Bourke, requesting that the bush on Makakahi road be felled along section 20, Mangaone. Resolved, to inform Mr Bourke that the Board will not have any funds for this road until February, and that he be asked to renew his application. From Treasury, advising a remittance of Crown Lauds rates. From Commissioner- of Crown Lands with plan shewing * section of land proposed to be reserved for educational purposes in Alfredton. It was resolved, That the B,pard offer no objection to the proposal. Mr Saunders reported that an extra culvert and some fascining were required on the Tiraumea District Road Contract, Resolved, That Mr Saunders be authorised to have this done. Mr Yonßeden reported that the Manga- ■ one Valley Road contract would be completed this week, and suggested that a cheque should be passed for the balance. Resolved, that a cheque be passed and handed to tho contractor when Mr Von I Reden has passed the work. That a cheque be passed for the Tawafcsii road contract, to be handed to the contractor when the work is finished. That in future a deposit of 5 per cent be asked on all contracts for £SO or over. That accounts as per payment sheet be passed for payment, That Messrs Kebboll and Von Reden sign cheques.'",.. .That the next meeting be held on the ; third Tuesday in January. The following tenders for metalling on 1 Eketahuna-Tiuui road were opened:—No, 1 Contract, 45 chains—Henry Stevens, • £lB5 (accepted); J, and A. Roigard, £6 I per chain; Ohisholm and Pratt, £3 lis l 9d per chain; Burgess Brothers, £slss > per chain ; Nils and A. Anderson, £4 Bs, I and £4l3s per chain. No. 2 Contract, 15 - chains-Henry Stevens, £45 accepted; A, i Burling, £4 per chain ;'Nils and A, Ander- ! son, £3 9s; Burgess Brothors, £4 10s; t Chisholm and Pratt, £3 9s lOd.
