TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary, monthly meeting of the' 'above was held on' Saturday. Present,— Messrs B. Boys, (Chairman) W, Booth, H. Braithwaite, Reynolds, E, W. Dorset, W Parkev H. R, Bunny, and A. Gallon. '

Correspondence was read from the property Tax Department, re grants for roads ; from the engineer re survey of Dalefield road, stating thaj, a considerable expense would be incurred" to~alter the present route ; from Mr W. Francis offering the .Board a piece of land to take gravel from,..for the purpose of completing the contract on that line of road for £5. The offer was accepted. MrH. R, Bunny in respect to the motion standing in his name rose to move that the share, available from Government grant of Nos. t, 2, and, 8 wards be expended on improving the Gladstone road from Stoodley's corner to the deviation. After considerable discussion the motion was •agreed to with only two dissenting vojees. Mr Morgan waited on the Board in respect to repairs to Belridere road, he further stated that the settlers had'exjjended some £l4 independently of paying rates, and begged that the Board favorably conaider the petition, otherwise the settlors would be quite "unable to get out next winter.

Mr Braithwaite applied to have tenders called for 20 chains of metalling. „ Accounts amounting to £B2 19 2d were passed for payment. Mr Gallon moved that Mr Waterscn be written to requesting him to remove all logs from Waterson's Road which he has placed. Mr J. Reynolds moved that MessrsDeihl and Reading be written' to requesting that they proceed with their contract on Francis line without' delay. ■ This concluded the business, and the meeting terminated.
