MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

THE.usual meeting of the Board \vas hold on Saturday. Present—Messrs Dagg (in the chair), Johnston, Gunderson, and Welch, the latter taking his seat for the first time, The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read: From Messrs Pike and Burnett, stating that the ford across the Taueruonthe road to Te "Whijij was not safe, and asking that it might he put in order. From Mr D. From Messrs McGregor Bros asking that a drain on the Masterton-Gladstone road might be cleaned. From Mr Badger asking the Board to subscribe to the Local Bodies Guide. From the Chairman of the Upper Taueru Road Board, handing over rates from the property to bo expended on the Te Ore Ore Bideford road. "

Accounts amounting to £llß were passed for payment.

The following resolutions were passed. That Messrs Pike and Burnett be informed that the ford on tlie Taueru is in the Carterton Road District. That the Secretary be instructed to ask permission of tho Upper Taueru Road Board to carry out repairs on portion of the Te Ore Ore-Bideford road in their district.

That Messrs McGregor Bros.' application be granted, provided they pay half of the expense.

That Mr J. Bassett, the contractor on the Wangaehu road,, be guided by the Overseer in rectifying a mistake made in cutting away the banks of the Wangaehu creek,

That the Overseer be instructed to proceed with the additional work on the Wangaehu road. Mr Bunny attended on behalf of Mr M. Dowling as to his supposed claim, and it was resolved that the application cannot be entertained, there being no record. That inasmuch as the Crown Grant has matured the. land adjoining Mr Bruce's property has become private property the Board lias no power to give, right-of-ways, except under the Public Works Act,- the process being an expensive one which the Board does not feel justified in undertaking. In the meantime applications will be made to the owner for a right-of-way.
