R.M. COURT.

MASTERTON.-FRIDAY. (Before H. A. Stratford, R.M.) THREATENING LANGUAGE. Michael Nolan was charged with having wed threatening language towards R. Horobin on the 25th ult, Mr Bunny appeared for the prosecution, and Mi' Beard for the defence. From the evidence of complainant it appqared that the parties wero neighbors, and that while complainant was putting some cattle into a paddock, defendant oame up, and used very filthy languago towards him, and threatened to murder him. To Mr Beard : He was not excited at the time, though of an excitable temperament. Defendant was a tenant of his, and he had on the previous night given him notice to quit, There had been no dispute as to whether the land was Government land or not. His wife was present, and told defendant that if he struck her husband she would strike him. She had a stick in her hand. Mrs Nolan tried to take her husband (defendant) away, but he broke away from her, and again used the threatening language. He was afraid of bodily harm being dono him. Margaret Horobin, wife of the previous witness, gave corroborative evidence, There was nobody present except the four, thougli there were people about three or four hundred yards away.
