He made his debut as a h ree-year-old at Ascot, where lie won the Ascot Derby and St. James' Palace Stakes. As a four-year-old he won the Cumberland Plato, and defeated the Derby winner, Kingcraft, at level weights over two miles at Newmarket. His own' brother, King Lud, was sold by auction to go to the stud for GOOO guineas. Daniel O'Rourke won the Canterbury Derby and Cup, in 1875, and is by Slcilmero (imported), from Brunette (importeu), whoisalsodamofTadmor, the Canterbury Derby winner of 1874, DANIEL is a bay horse, and is G years old, standing over 16 hands high, good constitution, and if good shape, size, and performance go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Eourke should beget the class of horses required in the Wairarapa, He is just the class of horse to get either cross country horses, race horses, or weightcarrying hacks, according to the class of mare put to him, His first season on the tuif, he won the Flying Handicap at Marlborough, with Bst 4lbs up, also Sporting Handicap at same meeting Bst, and after a serving season won County Cup at Kaikoura, 1£ miles, with lOst up, and won Consolation Handicap at Recftou same season; also ran second to Orlando for Maiden Plate at Nelson, w.f.a. ; at AVairarapa Spring Meeting, 82-3, was second to Kakapo Sat lOlbs for County Handicap, and won Maiden Stakes 9st 21bs, beating Makora, First Water, and six others; at Island Bay he was second to Eewi, welter w.f.a,, also at same meeting ran second to Camellia, At MastertonOpaki, won Railway Handicap Sat lOlbs, C furlongs in lmin 18sec. Orphan 9st 71bs, second, Romp, Cst Gibs, third, and was second to Kakapo Bst 91bs, for Opaki Handicap, DAN'S weight being Bst Gibs, At Reef ton Summer he was second for the Inangalma Cup, 9st, won by Satellite, 9st 41bs, won J.C, Handicap, 'Jst lOlbs, beating Field, Bst Gibs, Satellite, 9st lOlbs, and another. He also won Railway Tlateat Nelson, and ran in several other races there, and has always shown lie was hard to beat, and could always carry weight and race with it.
