CARTERTON TOWN BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Council Chambers yesterday. Present—Commissioners R. Fairbrother (Chairman), H. Callister, G. M. Gardener, and W. P. Allen. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £27 6s 4d. The Inspector's report was read, in which ho drew the attention of the Board to some road repairs required. It was decided that they be seen to. A discussion arose about stray horses on tho road, and it was resolved to speak to the constable, asking him to endeavor to put a Btop to people turnins: their horses on to the road. It was resolved to declare the day of the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society's show, a public holiday. It was suggested that it was advisable to put a man on for a week or two to fill in the ruts on the main road, also to put in some culverts to let off the rain water. The Clerk informed the Board that he had received notice from Messrs Beard & Gray that tho proper transfer deeds to the Board for a piece of land on Belvedere road had been executed, and requesting the Board to proceed with the covering in of the drain at their earliest convenience, so that they (Messrs Beard & Gray) might be able to have their laud properly fenced. An account for 30s was passed for payment, and the meeting then terminated,
