'J'HE Thoroughbred Stallion Daniel O'Coimell. DANIEL O'CONNELL was bred by Mr Murphy, of Marlborough, and is by Daniel O'Rourke, from Plover, by Sir Hercules, Plover is also dam of Malvina, Hercules, and other winners, seo N.Z. Stud Book, Vol, G, Daniel O'Rourke won the Canterbury Derby and Cup, in 1875, and is by Sledmere (imported), from Brunette (imported), who is also dam of Tadmor, the Canterbury Derby winner of 1874. DANIEL is a bay horse, and is 6 years old, standing over 16 hands high, good constitution, and if good shape, size, and performance go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Rourke should beget the class of horses required in the Wairarapa. He is just the class of horse to get either cross country horses, race horses, or weightcarrying hacks, according to the class of mare put to him. His first season on the turf, he won the Flying Handicap at Marlborough, with Bst 41bs up, also Sporting Handicap at same meeting Bst, and after a serving season won County Cup at Kaikoura, 1J miles, with 10st up, and won Consolation Handicap at Keefton same season; also ran second to Orlando for Maiden Plato at Nelson, w.f.a. ; at Wairarapa Spring Meeting, 82-3, was second to Kakapo Bst lOlbs for County Handicap, and won Maiden Stakes 9st 21bs, beating Makora, First Water, and six others j at Island Bay he second to Rewi, welter w.f.a., also at meeting ran second to Camellia, At MastertonOpaki, won Railway Handicap Bst lOlbs, 6 furlongs in lminlßsec.. Orphan 9st 71bs, second, Romp, 6st 61bs, third, and was second to Kakapo Bst9lbs, for Opaki Handicap, DAN'S weight being Bst 61bs. Atßeefton Summer he „ —.J, won Satellite, 9st 41bs, won J. C, . Handicap, 9st lOlbs, beating Field, 1 8st61bs, Satellite, 9st lOlbs, and another. He also won Railway Plate at Nelson, and ran in several other races there, and has always shown he was hard to beat, and could always carry weight and race with it. He also gained second prize at the 'Wairarapa Agricultural Show in 1884, beating Premier, Voltigeur, and Crawford Priory.
