THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SERVICE.

Wellington, this day, The negotiations wlfjol} have been taking place between the Government, the Union Company, and Mr Center, of the Oceanic Steam Company re the San Francisco Mail Service, are concluded, and the Union and Oceanic Companies haye decided to undertake the service. The Union Company will be the principals in the contract, and carry iflajls from Sydney to Auckland, and thence to Honolulu, where they willbe transhipped to the fine steamers running under the flag of the Oceanic Company, The contract will be signed to-morrow, but the details have not been allowed to be made public, nor the arrangements between the twoOompanys, Mr James Mills, manager of the Union Company, and Mr Center leave for Auckland on Friday. One advantage to passengers under the new contract is that should they wish to stay a few days ,at Honolulu, they could do so, and go on tiy the nexjt stosipr of the Oceanic Company, which has a fortnightly service between Honolulu. and San Franscisco. The contract commences from San Franscisco in November, and Sydney in December, It has not yet bee)) decided what boats are to be used.
