WAIRARAPA k EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY'S ANNUAL HORSE PARADE. Notwithstanding the downpour of rain the annual horse parade came off on Saturday, although only flvo horses were on the ground. Towards two o'clock the weather cleared up, but it was too late to affect the attendance to any material extent. A new departure was taken by the Committee, the public, which numbered about 100, being constituted the Judges, and the gate money (L2) divided between the first favorites in each class. In thoroughbreds, the first fayorjte with the majority of the' public was Mr T. H. Hill's • 1 ' f ' •' LoedMandevilpe, who was shown at Masterton 011 the preceding Wednesday, He \yas deservedly admired by all present. The next "in favor was Mr P, F, Tancred's Premier, who was only two votes behind Lord Mandeville. The Premier, who is fifteen years old, was in even better form than he was last year. His qualities are too well known to need comment, Mr J. C. Yallance's VoLTIGEUR was third, the voting being principally divided between the first two horses. Mr G. Freeth's Treason was fourth. In draught horses there was only one entry, Mr J. Anderson's Prince Arthur, a dark dappled bay, by Young Prince Charlie, bred by Mr A. Cookburn. There being no competition in this class, the sum of £1 wm handed to the owner.
