He is a beautiful dapple brown, rising 3 years old, stands IG§ hands high, and is a fine specimen of a Clydes" dale, possessing good litad and neck, with splendid barrel, and great breadth of quarters, fine broad-boned legs of good strength and plenty of feather, He lias grand action, a very mildtemper, a sound constitution, andisfreefrom all natural blemishes, and being descended from celebrated ancestors (see tabulated pedigree) is well qualified to be a breeder of first-class stock. Thoroughbred Stallion Daniel O'Counell. DANIEL O'CONNELL was bred by Mr Murphy, of Marlborough, and is by Daniel O'Rourke, from Plover, by Sir Hercules, Plover is also dam of Malvina, Hercules, and other winners, see N.Z, Stud Book, Vol. 6. Daniel O'Rourke won the Canterbury Derby and Cup, in 1875, and is by Sledmero (imported), from Brunette (importeu), who is also dam of Tadmor, the Canterbury Derby winner of 1874. DANIEL is a bay horse, and is 6 years old, ' standing over 16 hands high, good constitution, and if good shape, size, and performance go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Rourko should beget the class of horses required in the Wairarapa, Ho is just the class of horse to get either cross country horses, race horses, or weightcarrying hacks, according to the class of maro put to him. His first season;oil the turf, he won the Flying Handicap at Marlborough, with Sat 41ba up, also Sporting Handicap at same meeting Bst, and after a serving season won County Cup at Kaikoura, 1$ miles, with 10st up, and won Consolation Handicap at Keefton same Beason; also ran second to Orlando for Maiden Plato at Nelson, w.f.a. ; at Wairarapa Spring Meeting, 82-3, was second to Kakapo Bst lOlbs for County Handicap, aud won Maiden Stakes flst 21bs, beating Makora, First Water, and six others j at Island Bay lie was second to Ecwi, welter w.f.a., also at samo meeting ran second to Camellia. At MastertonOpaki, won Railway Handicap Bst lOlbs, G furlongs in lmin 18sec. Orphan 9st 71bs, second, Romp, Gst Gibs, third, and was second to Kakapo Bst 91bs, for Opaki Handicap, DAN'S weight being Sst Gibs. At Reefton Summer he was second for the Inangahua Cup, 9st, won by Satellite, 9st 41bs, won J.C, Handicap, list lOlbs, beating Field, Sst Gibs, Satellite, 9stlolbs, and another. He also won Railway Plate at Nelson, and ran in several other races there, and has always shown lie was hard to beat, and could always carry weight and race with it.
