We extract the following information from a Parliamentary paper, giving the area and description of land available for settlement in the provincial district of Wellington:-From Masterton to Woodville, taking in country east and west, 200,000.acres bush land of.excel-, lent quality, very well adapted forsmall settlers, A good deal has been done, and ia still in progress in connecting the back blocks with' main road and railway, by opening out cross-roads, This land is now being rapidly taken up. 4iong line of Wellington-Mana-watu railway, 60,000 acres, well adapted for small settlers, mostly bush, Thedisposal is in the hands of the railway company, Wanganui Harbor Endowment and adjacent Crown lands, 20,000 acres bush land, suitable for small settlers if more opened out by roads. The endowment land is disposed of by Land Board according to Land Aot. Wanganui district, 20,000 acres rugged bush land, good soil, adapted for cattle and sheep-farms, About 10,000 acres surveyed \ roads much wanted. Total for Wellington, 300,000 acres, The total area available in the colony is given as 2,201,760, but that does not include land in Westland, or the West Coast of the North Island.
