In reply to a correspondent, the Auckland Weekly News says There is no wash better than the one recommended by the Califomian State Board of Horticulture, the recipe isßUed evidently consisting of a mixture of several popular jnsecticifles, each of ivluph, used with judgment, pughfc to fee etfeotqal.' The ingredients are .—Whale oil, caustic aoda, sulphor, tobacco, coal oil, copperas, and water, It is alleged that this wash is capable of being used summer and winter alike for all sorts of insects and mildews, such as attack the pear, apple, etc., and toeleanse trees of moss and other parasites, For scale on evergreens it is claimed to be the only wash that has been successfully employed in the States.
