TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting was held on Saturday in the Council Chambers, Carterton. Present—Messrs B. Boys (chairman), W. Booth, H. R. Bunny, N. Grace, E. W. Dorset, JEI. Braithwaite, W. Parker, J, Reynolds, and A, Gallon. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £154 6s.

The following correspondence was then read :

From Mr J. Burrow, offering the Board a piece of land for a gravel pit at a peppercorn rent.—Accepted. From Mr John Knight, offering to take the job of roadman on the GladstoneWainuioru road,—lt was rosolved to infonn him that his services were not required at present,

From Mr Bremner, certifying to the inaccurate survey of section 237, Dalefield, and submitting plan of same.—lt was resolved that the plan be referred back to Mr Bremhe'r,

From the • Taratahl Dairy Company, ref«sing'(with thanks) the Board's offer of £SO for a piece of land for a gravel pit.

Mr Braithwaite suggested that each Warden should tako a list of the gravel pits, and where situated, in his ward, and leave the .same-with the clerk- for reference.

Resolved that £lO be paid to R, Sayer for work done on Dalefield road, and also that the balance be paid to Jones and Matthews for bushfalling on Brooklyn road as soon as the work is passed. Mr Gallon applied to have tenders called for clearing bush, and about ten chains of side cutting on Joseph's line, Matarawa, andalso to be allowed toexpend £3 on repairs to Waterson's line. The Chairman asked permission to expend £2 in repairs to Anderson's line.

Mr H. R. Bunny gave notice to move at next meeting—That Francis' line be put in thorough repair. On the motion of Mr Grace it was resolved to pass the account for £OO to be paid to Gardner am} 00. as soon as their contract is finished.

Accounts amounting to £144 4s were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated,
