London, September 11, Lord Carington was entertained at a farewell banquet last evening at the Beaconsfield Club. Tho Agents-General for the various colonies were among the guests. Lord Carington in his speech, replying to the toast of tho evening, referred to the Colonies, eulogised their recent offers of aid to the British Government, and said the lion's cubs had proved themselves a worthy offspring of the Mother - Country. Lord Rosebery also spoke, and expatiated upon the desirableness and advantages of federaion. Sir Saul Samuel, replying to the toast of the Agent-General, welcomed Lord Carrington as the new Governor of New South Wales.
