FEATHERSTON HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held on Saturday. Present Messrs Donald (Chairman), -Mathews, Cameron, and Bidwill.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. ■ Messrs Donald and Cameron were appointed to sign cheques, Accounts to the amount of £206 were passed for payment, The Treasurer reported £591 l§s 9d to the credit of the general account, and £470 9s 2d of imprest account. The following amounts, had been received since last meeting, viz.,£2so, Becond payment to imprest account for Moroa road; £3519s lOd rates on Native lands£64 5s 3d general rates. The financial position of each ward was therein shown, and the amount of rates in arrear was reported at £3lB.

Correspondence inwards was read as follows t~
From Colonial Treasurer, notifying payments of £250 on imprest account and £35 19b 10(1 for Native rates.
From Property Tax Commissioner, forwarding forms for claims for Native lands. From Waiohine River Board re amounts expended on works north of Greytown, and stating that if the Board will grant assistance they will be prepared to carry out further works near the new bridge. From C. Elgar, returning plan to be forwarded with application to Minipter of Publlo Works respecting a road going across to Messrs Horsbura'a and the writer's properties in the Awhea Block. From W. Hodder,-jun., stating that he would remove gorse as requested as early as possible, From Messrs Beard & Gray, in respect of claim for compensation, etc., by Mr George Harris,
It was resolved that the Waiohine River Board be informed, "This Board is not prepared to grant assistance as asked."
Resolved—That Messrs Beard & Gray be instructed to raako an offer at the rate of £lO per acre for land taken for road through Mr Harris' property, The Chairman reported he had arranged with Mr W. 0. Williams for a gravel pit at £l2.
Mr Bidwill asked permission to deepen a drain on Kahautara road at his owp expense, and deposit material on road as formation. Granted.
The poundkeeper's and ranger's reports were submitted, showing receipts for the month at 18b. The Clerk was instructed to send the necessary form of claim to the Property Tax Commissioner for rates on Native land. ■ ■ After other routine business the Board adjourned.
