TARATAHI-CARTERTOH ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting was hold on Saturday, Present—Messrs B. Boys '(chairman), E W. Dorset, A. Gallon, W, Parker, H,. Braithwaite, H, R. Bunny, J. Reynolds, and N, Grace, The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £76 9s lid, A letter was read from Messrs Cox, Taylor, and Kiddie, for assistance towards repairing a road leading from the main road through a right-of-way to their-pro-perties. It was decided not to entertain the application, as it would be a bad pre-cedi-nt.

A. discussion arose in reference- to allowing Mr Eaton a right of road through Native land. The clerk reported that he had received notice from the Survey Department, stating that the Crown grant for the same had matured, and the right of taking a road through the same had consequently ceased. A letter was read from Mr.Kummer, asking for assistance in making a road to his land. It was decided to leave th« matter in the hands of Mr Grace, to report on at next meetinp.

Mr Eaton waited on the Board in reference to a right-of-road, and stated that he had no. right-of-road thrpugh the Native land specified in his deed. It was resolved to get legal advice on the matter, and-let Mr Eaton know the result.

A letter was read from Mr 0. Phillips: re the atate of the line of road near his: property at Matarawa, and asking to have. 40 chains of the bush felled at once, an.di offering to hold himself responsible for; thesame. It waj resolved to let the matter!

It was resolved that an extra £5 be allowed for gravelling on the Kokatau .road for the additional five chains which has been done.

Mr H. R. Bunny moved that an applicatio'nbe made to the-County Council for the sum of £l2, due from / the Hurunuiorangi Reserve. The Chairman asked permission .for Mr W.. Francis to call for tender3 s for cutting,' a bridle track through his property, he (Mr Francis) guaranteeing that- the- cost to the Board shall net exceed 30s. It was resolved that tenders be called for about 18 chains of metalling on the Hurunuiorangi-Gladstone road. The accounts passed for payment amounted to £ll7 8s Bd. The meeting then terminated,-
