FREETHOUGHT ASSOCIATION.

The jusual weekly meeting of the Masterton Froethought Association was held in the Theatre Royal last night, when an additional attraction -was presented in Mr Gerald Dillon, who is well known in the colonies as an elocutionist of more than ordinary attainments. The chair was occupied by Mr A, W. RenalL Mr Dillon read and recited a number of .poems and prose selections in a mannerthat held the attention of the audience throughout. His Btyle is exceedingly

pleasant,' arid he seemed to be on friendly terms . with those. present before they had seen him twice. Among his best recitations wore, - the "Dream of Eugene. Aram," "Two •Women," "The" Portrait," (a fine and realistic poem by Owen Meredith, which, for some unknown reason is not generally printed with his other works), the "Scriptural Panorama," and "Shamus O'Brien." A number of vocalitems were also added, among them being the song " Constance" by Mrs'T..H. Wrigley, who got: a well-earned encore for her rendition. Mr Langensiepen also got a similar and equally well-merited compliment for a solo on the zither.
