When thu deputation from the Local Bodies Conference waited upon the Colonial Treasurer, lie informed them, among other things, that during the past three years the County of Wairarupa East had received £42,000 from the Government. This was denied at tho tin.e by Mr Mackay, the County Clmiitnan, but the correct (inures wore not given. Tho following staieinent, snowing the amounts paid over by the General Government on various accounts since January Ist, 1883, will therefore prove interesting, while it will also show that Sir Juuus Vogel was in error to the tune of about L 14,000 Opaki ■ M'anawatir road (Forty-Mile. Hush), L 4,492, 3s Id ; vote for opening Crown Lands, principally expended in the Forty-Mile Bush, LBIO4 0s 4d; grants under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1882, 1883, and 1884, L 12,732 15s Id; rates under Ciown and Native Lands Hating Act, L 672 14s 7d ; office rent from Sheep Department, L2(j Is; gold revenue, L 4; total, L 26,031 14s Id,
