A SUICIDE'S LETTER TO HIS SON.

The deputy-corner hold an inqury at the' Westminster Sessions Houso concerning the death of James Langley, aged thirty-six years, a bntler, formerly in the servico of the Marquis of Northampton, who was found drownod in the Thames. The deceased had been out of employment, for some timo, and in October last waß sentenced to tlireo monthfl' imprisonment at the Westminster Police Court for obtaining money under false pretences from the charitable. Ho was married and had four children. His body was found in the Thames, apiece of paper being discovered in one of his pockets, bearing the following words" Name, James Langley:age, thirty-six years; particulars, no friends in a position to bur)' me." His son, a boy twelve years old, had previously received a letter from the deceased, written on mourning note paper, as follows:-"8 Kinnerton place, S.W., March 2, 1885.—My dearest Horace,—Before this reaches you I shall have quietly passed to my last and long rest, My last wish iB that you will ever try to lead a blameless life, and never forget your God. Do all you can for your mother and Bisters. You are very young. I was only a year older than yourself when I commenced to fight my way in life. N ever give way to drink, and never trust yourself to any man or woman in the world. I pray for God's blessing to you, and trust you may grow up in His fear. With love and kisses from your affectionate father, James Lanoley. P.S.—Mv things will be found at the above address." The boy said that it was a terrible letter for a boy to receive,' but he should return it to him so that he could keep it before him as an example. A verdict of " temperary insanity" was recorded.
