CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs -Maunsell, Langdon, Meredith, and Harvey. In the absence of Mr Mackay, Mr Maunsell was voted to the chair. ' The minutes of the previous meeting .were read find confirmed.

Railway Reform League, with copy of petition to be presented to Parliament, praying for an alteration in the system of railway management; from ■the Colonial Secretary,, re the gazetting of the member for No. 6 Subdivision ; from Messrs Levin & Co., re rates on Manawa; from Telegraph Department, re repairs to the footpath in front of the Telegraph Office, Tinui; from County Clerk, re Engineer's services'; from conference on .local government questions; from same re price of timber on Taueru ( , road.. : $ ■ Mr Maunsell withdrew the notice of motion standing in his name. . ■ Resolved.—That this Board purchase the timber on the .Taueru road, at the price named by the County Engineer. That the consideration of the grant for expenditure between the main road and Mr Nicholl's slaughter-house be deferred till the member for the sub-divißion is present. " That this Board approve of the action of the N.Z. Railway Reform League in petitioning Parliament for an enquiry on the working of the railway system." : That a general rate of |d.in the poucflU be made and levied on, all rataun property in this district. ™ That the collector be instructed to take legal proceedings to recover all outstanding rates forthwith.
