A good deal o{ dissatisfaction is "being expressed by the Masterton footballers at the manner in which they are being treated with regard to the play; for the Union Oup, and wo think they have good reason for it. In the first place .the matches were thoroughly muddled by the management in Wellington, the only thing that stood out distinct being, jihat tliey were to be got ovev as quickly as possible. Once the Clubs saw things straight, they went in with a will, the last match being played at Carterton yesterday. The Wellington Olub beat the Athletics in Wellington, and the only thing that remains, is the final match
between them and Masterton. For some inscrutable reason, however, it is now proposed in Wellington to put it off for six weeks, There is really no excuse for this. The Wellington Club has played no matches to tire their players, ■ who are nevertheless in good form. Master-'' ton is also in good form, but unfor-
iunately the players will lose their practice ground in a day or two, and ;hree or four players will, after next
week, be too busy on their farms to attend practice, The Southern tour of the Union does not commence till after Saturday next; what could be better
than to play the match on that day 1 k very deep-rooted impression prevails in Masterton that the Union is not acting fairly, and that it seeks to obtain an advantage for the Wellington Club. If the final'match is not played next Saturday, it is not improbable that the Masterton Club .will withdraw from the Union. As they have tho fullest 'sympathy from tho Carterton Club, the withdrawn! of.one Club may partially' break up the Union, We have been requested by Mr J, Thorburn, the Clothier and Outfitter, of Willis-street, Wellington, to call the attention of tho Wairarapa to his gigantio 20 per cent, Tax Sale, which is now being held, The whole of his great utook of Men's, Youths', and Boys' Clothing, &c., is m tho market for absolute sale, at the cost price, for 21 days.—Adyt, Coughs, dolds, Bronchitis, &«,, aro quickly cured by using Baxter's culobrated "Lung Preserver," This oldestablished, celebrated medicine, 'is
