CARTERTON CEMETERY TRUSTEES.

, A meeting of the Carterton Cemetery Trustees was held last night at the Institute. Present—Messrs T. Moore, H. Callister, W. Parkor, (in the chair) J. Fitzgerald, E, Anderson, J. Bairstow, and J. Smith.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and the Treasurer reported a credit balance in the bank of £30135.

A discussion -.arose respecting some improvements which were being done by the Bexton, the Trustees seeming to be well pleased with the way it wal'done, and recommended that he continue on in the same way till the job, was finished, , The, sexton was requested-to fill in a ditch, and form a piece of road to allow the Preabytefians'td' have access .to their part of the cemetery,'and ordered to

employ a man with ft horse and cart for a day of two to assist him.

A complaint was made about some person or persons throwing rubbish on tho other graves while' clearing their own relatives'ground. It was resolved that a notice be poftcd up in a conspicious place warning them against doing so if future, under a penalty according to tho Cemetery by-laws, - which will be enforced. ' The Treasurer read the balance sheet for the year ending 30th June, 1885, informed the members that it had noUjH been audited, and recommended that it hjEjjg It was moved by Mr Anderson tfIBBE seconded by; Mr Moore, That. ' Mr Parker informed the meetin J&BHB he had purchased a dozen more replace some which had died away, IHpH his action was approved of, and itw\ |j recommended to plant a few more, if Mr J Parker thought.it A Messrs Bairstow and, Smith were n| authorised to inspect and pass the draining. which is being done, and the i Treasurer was authorised to pay for the 1 work when done, on their certificate. j Mr Smith was authorised to try and / arrange with Mr Roberts for a load > through a comer of his ground, to allow access to that portion of the cemetery. Several small accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
