It ia announced that the Queen has been pleased to confer tho Order of tho Garter upon the Earl of Kimberley, and tho Grand Cross of the Bath upon Viscounts Eversley and Sherbrooke, Sit Nathaniel De Rothschild, Sir R. R. W. Lingen.O.C.B, (Permanent Secretary to' tho Treasury) Mx Edward Baring, and Mr Samuel Morley, M.P. for Bristol, have all beenraisedto the Peerage. Mr Ellis Ashmead Bartlett has bean appointed one of the Junior Lords of the Admiralty. The position of AttorneyGeneral and Solicitor-Genoral havo not as yet beon definitely filled, The House of Commons met to-day, and after/ the issue of the new writs, rendered necessary by the appointment of the Ministry, adjourned until July G, whon the results of the elections will be known, In the House of Lords, the Marquisof Salisbury stated, that he had at first refused to reconsider his proposed withdrawal, but that Her Majesty tho .Queen appealed to him to accept Mr Gladstone's assurances of support. ■ 'Melbourne, June 2G. Reports have been received from Gippsland that a promising goldfield has been discovered on the Snowy River, and that a ru'sn has commenced in consequenco of glowing accounts of prospectors, Sydney, Juno 26. The Mayor of Sydney held a luncheon to-day, at which he entertained several of the official visitors from the other colonies who were present at the reception of the Contingent. The trial .qf the }ibel case, McCombie versus the Proprietors of the Evening News, was concluded to-day, andresulted in a verdict for the plaintiff—damages £2OO. ■ , The officers of the New South Wales Contingent were entertained last evening ata complimentary banquet in their honor, given by the members of the Ministry.
