If, Wood reports that Ilia stock sale at Hay's yards,, I'aratahi, on Thursday, was woll attended, and that considerably more stock was yarded than liad been advertised, Bidding was brisk, nnd every lino offered was sold. Tho sale was the most successful that has been held at these yards for somo.timo, Tho following aro, some of the. prices' realised:—Sheep—Mixed owes in lamb, ft 3d to 8s lOd; culled merino owes, 3s;.lambflinwool,,Os, Cattle-Yearling steers and hoifers,. 40a; 18 months old, 45s to BOs; two year old steers and heifers, £3 ; two and tlivco year old steers, forward, £4; cows from £1 to £7; horses, £G to £25. Tho thoroughbred horso, Traitor, which was very bad in condition, and rough, was sold for £2O/
Mr .Walter Rapp reports for the past week as follows :-During this week business has been fairly good. Unfortunately for the Wairarapa wo are entirely dependent at the latter end of the season to look elsewhere for produce, Why such a state of tilings should continue is best known to farmers themselves, ' ? ' Oats.—During this, week a large amount of oats have arrived in Mastcrton from the South, and have been disposed of at prices ranging from 2s 5d to 2s Bd, delivered free, Wheat,—No wheat is in tho hands of onr. local people, Southern quotations are from 2s 6d to 2s M per bushel for new milling samples, and for primo wheat 2s lOd to 3s, the preference given to pearl and velvet varieties. Potatoes.—There is a slight Mm the potato market, in consequent of tho Sydney market being glutted, but local quotations are about the same as last week, Butter—For good primo salt butter there is an active demand, the local market being nearly bare of good butter.' . Sheep and Cattle—l quote, the same as last week, is a slight demand for porkers, aud they arc fetching fair prices, Heavier sorts are fetching from 30s to & ■ PRODUCE PRICES, Tiie wholesale prices of produce in Mastcrton at this dato are as follows:—Frosh butter, lsldtols2d; eggs, Is 2d; bnconand hams, 7d ; new oats 2s Cd, retail, 3s; wheat 4s; cheese, (id to 8d; potatoes, 4s.
