Your Committee have much pleasure in reporting that after paying all claims for the past year, a balanco of 8s 6d still remains in hand, to which may be added tho sum of £4los outstanding, making a total credit balance of £4lßa 6d, When it is remembered that we now possess all necessary staring and fixtures, and that owing to the bad weather the attendance at tho Autumn Show was greatly under the average, we submit that our financial position must be deemed highly satisfactory. The sum of £BO 5s 6d was paid away in prizes during the year, and the general working expenses amounted to £3915s 6d, making a total of £l2O 9s fid, winch has passed through our hands during the year. It will be remembered that during the last two years a poultry show has been added to the- ordinary horticultural show, but as an independent Poultry Society has now been initiated in Masterton, this society will, of course', dispense with the poultry class at o.ur future shows, Much of the success of the Society during the past six years is due to the energetic interest taken in it by the President, Wr W. The apiarian' class which was introduced last year has proved most sucessf ul, and the Committee venture to exprees a hope it will continue to be a features in the Society's shows. From a letter which will be read to you it will be observed that Mr Everett is unable in future to fill the office of President, and the Committee cannot sufficiently express the severe loss to the Society which his retirement wilkecasion; but Mr Everett's promise to assist ub with the benefit of

Ms advice and practical help, will, wo hope, make his retirement less severely folt than it would be otherwise.

From the balance sheet it appeared that the Society had, commenced the year with a credit balance of £ll Is Bd, and the total receipts had been £l2O 9b 6d. There was a balance is hand of 8s Cd. The report and balance.sheet were adopted, Mr Everett wrote stating that his movements were uncertain, and he could not accept the Presidency again, although he was well aware that it was the desire of the Society that he : should continue to hold it.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr T. Parsons; Vice-President, Mr J, Vile; Hon. Secretary, Mr W. B. Chennells; Hon; Treasurer, Mr J. Brown; Committee, Messrs W, G. Beard, A. Blkins, T. Dixon, T. Collotte, T. Osborne, T. Gardner, G. M. Park, R. Brown, J. G. Hogg, J.M. Rockell, and'W. Everett, The. meeting then proceeded to consider the prize schedules. In the case of pelargoniums, it was agreed to give prizes for show, fancy and regals. Prizes were also added for orchids,' achimenes, locally cured hop 3, hops on pole, locally made wine, .collection of curios, collection of artificial comb foundation for bees (in ; place of two previous prizes), and collection'of honey plants.
