THE JEWELRY BOBBERY.

Wellington, This day. ' At the Police Court this; morning: Allendale, arrested at Ohristohurch for jewelry robbery here, was brought up, when it was found he had confessed to the crime.. He sent for a detective at 8' o'clock this morning, and stated to him that he committed the burglary at .1 a',m. on the 27th ult. He cut through the door, and. finding the coast clear, took everything he could conveniently carry away. He was not, as at first supposed, disturbed. He got clear with.a large number of articles, and placing them in an old whisky keg, buried them in the back premises attached to the Te Aro Hotel, at which place he had been employed as waiter. It was his intention to have proceeded to Sydney and disposed of the articles, but not being possessed of sufficient ready cash, he decidedto go to Ohristohurch, to raise the wind by pawning or selling a few gold watches. Allendale says he left for Lyttelton the same day the robbery was committed and in Christchurcli he disposed of four gold watches and three gold alberta. He was about to return to Wellington, and then remove the remainder of the " swag" to Sydney when he was arrested. The detective made a search of the locality, and found the jewellery where accused had stated. A remand was asked for, and prisoner replied that the case may as well proceed, as he intended to plead guilty. So far, no accomplices are spoken of. Davis, the Mulatto who was arrested on' suspicion of- being concerned' in the burglary, was to.day discharged from, custody, tho Magistrate remarking that he left without a stain on his character. Allendale was remanded till Wednesday..
