TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Council Chambers. Present—Messrs B, Boys (chairman), W. Booth, H. R. Bunny, J, Reynolds, E. W. Dorset, W, Parker, N. Grace, and A. Gallon. The i))ii)uf§s of the previous meeting were read and conjiriflejJ, and the Treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of £386 Is 2d. An apology was received from Mr H, Braithwaite for his absence. Correspondence was read from Colonial §egrptary re tho late election of Wardens. ' ' From Mr Tatliam, on the Waikaraka road, applying to have his rates returned, <jij tlf? said road does not benefit him. It wag fGffplved to inform him that the Board cannot accede £,q his request. From Mr King re CarPg gpntract, stating that it is not doen according to specifications, A copy of Mr King's letter was ordered to.be sent to Mr Carr, Frqip jlfr McLachlan re claim of £4O for two acres of J,and taVen for a road. It was resolved tq inf.qrm him that the Board could not entertain the appjiqatiqi], A letter was read from Mr E; Goojjin asking for some regompense fpr tl)e loss of a mare through falling into an unfenced gravel-pit belonging to the Board, It was resolved that Mr Parte Ijq empowered to get the gravel-pit fenced in at tho Board's exponse, but the Board cannot make any compensation to Mr Goodin for his loss, Messrs Andrews and Driscoll waited on the Board in reference to Moreton voad, Referred to Mr Parkes, the Wardon for No. 3 Ward. Mr J. Eaton asked permission to be allowed j,/) form a road through Native land to his prmjorty at his own expense. Resolved, that jfo request bo granted. Mr Anderson asked to have some impairs done to tho road at Woodiiide, ft was resolved that the matter be referred to Mr A. Gallon, with a recommendation tl)at tho work be done, Tfye following tenders wero received For |nd deepening drain on Railway Ijne, Ifr' 4d per chain, accepted; for Kokatau rpa'd, Mr Shell's at 18s a chain was accepted, ' " Mr Gallon was authorised tq speqd £g on the Matarawa road, Mr Dorset moved, and Mr Parker seconded, " That an application be made for £3OO under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, tho samo to be expended on White's Line, and that Mr Dorset be authorised to get the preliminaries completed." counting to £2BO 5s Id wore passed for ggi} the meeting terminated.
