" I won twolve dollars at dice, and, as » I went home, I was kicking up my heels M and shouting for joy. Officer thought I was drunk, you see." '' Officer, how drunk was he ?" " Too drunk to climb a snow drift, sir." " I was a bit giddy with my good luck, your Honour; but if you let me off, 1 promise not to feel happy for the next ten years." " We can't have any such foolish carryings on," replied the Court. " When a man mixes snow-drifts, dice, whiskey, and happiness together, it's going too far. I shall send you up for thirty days."
