EDUCATION BOARD.

At the Education Board meeting to-day, the resignation of Mr Bethune, assistant at Masterton, was accepted, In reference to the opening of an infant school at Masterton, the architect was requested to report, when the Finance Committee will deal with it. The Board could not agree to grant a bonus to Mr Kay, of Masterton, or to Mr Samuel, of Carterton. Mr R. E. Dowling was appointed assistant at the Masterton school. In regard to the application for a school at Alfredton, it was decided to request the applicants to submit a site. Florence Cliffe was appointed pupil teacher at Belvidere. The' Board could not provide additions at Belvidere, as the present buildings were erected in accordance with the estimates of the attendance. Mrs Sayera was appointed sewing Mistress at Dalefield, at. a salary of £5. In regard to the Carterton boundaries the Board decided if the settlers agreed locally, they will confirm the boundaries suggested, A sum for a new school at Mauriceville will be placed on next year's estimates. The Board could not authorise fencing at iDreyerton. The estimates for Dalefield shelter sheds were £2O 18s, which was considered too high, and the Board could amount. An amount for a new residence at Kaitara would be put on the next year-'s estimates. The Board could not accede to the application for papering the scullery of the residence at Eketahuna. The finance committee will deal with the report to be made on requisite repairs to the residence at Matarawa, Mr Bunny reported that the attendance at Tauherenikau had fallen off, and the Committee and teacher could not work, satisfactorily. If the present teacher could be removed, and a male teacher appointed, he would lecommend her removal to an appointment in town as an'assistant or infant teacher.
