LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting ■; of the Library Committee, was held last night, Present —Messrs Westin, Redman, Perry, Reese, Mason, J. J. Smith, and Fapworth (in the chair), and Mr Dalrymple (Secretary.) The minuteß of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
There being no Treasurer elected, the Secretary reported a credit balance of L2513s 3d, and rents due L 36 3s 6d. The following accounts were passed for. payment;—R Woodham, is ,6d; U. Dixon, 6s 6d; D. Pickering, 9a 6d; Caselberg and Co., £6 9s 9d ;~ J. Payton & C 0,,£145; Borough rates, £5 13s 9d. • '
Mr Mason moved, and Mr Westin seconded, " That the Secretary write to the libratians of the, Wellington Athenaeum and Greytown Library for copies of their rules regulating the operations of sub-committees.
Correspondence was read from the Town Clerk, demanding, payment of Borough rates (£5 13s 9d), which, was: passed for payment, it being understood that the same would be refunded 3s usual by the Borough Council, ;.;.'.i Prom the Town Clerk stating that the Borough Council had appointed Messrs W. G. Beard, W, H. Beetham, W. R. Berry, T, G. Mason, D, J. Papworth, F. T. Redman, A. Reese, J. J. Smith, and W, H, Westin to be the Committee of Management of the Public Library for the year 1385-6, as resqminended by the niibjic meeting held qn the 2Qth ApFJ), . Mr Papworlh moved, 'anpt Irlieege' seconded, that local committees be established at Quotations at Bkefetaw and Pahiatua; that the rate of subscription at these places be 10a per annum, payable in advance; that cost of boxes for carrying books, and carriage of books backwards and forwards, be paid by the local committees; and that two members of each local committee give guarantee for the value of the books.
