SCENES IN NO-MAN'S LAND.
The latest numbers of the " Illustrated London' News" to hand, contain a good many engravings of, points of intaflrt in the disputed territory between-Ar|»nis-tail and Russia, from sketches by a special artist travelling with Genoral Lamsden's suite.. .The views give onetheimpression that the country might very well bo made the scene of an international conflict, as not being of much use for any other purpose. At any rate it does not.seem to be very much used. The towns(?)areof the most miserable description, and .are apparently surrounded by mud. walls, in order that the inhabitants may find them after going 'to the paddock to catch a horse, or to the bush for a cord of firewood.■-Some typical portraits of the people that are' added do not impress one more favorably than the : ; views., of their ». country.: A view of Kul-i-patun, which*? has been-often mentioned, shows that this is an old bridge over the fieri Rud, with the central, arch gone. This and some lulls in the background is all there was at this " important post" before some Russian Boldiers oamped there. Old Sarakhs seemt to be a noble ruin of cob, and new Sarakhs deserves to Murghab was a large place whentlßPommissioner's troops were there, but it would nob be easy to find it when the soldiers tents were removed,
