Mr Perry was of opinion that before they could do that they would have estimates qf j;l|e next year liefqre The expjafped tjiat it be diflifiult to furnish them until rater payers had given them any idea of what works they wished to have carried out, Mr Woodville proposed that a rate of a halfpenny be levied. He believed many of the ratepayers could not afford to pay more.
The Clerk, replying to a question, stated that a rate of a half-penny would yield about .£l2lß.

If they found that they would require more money, they could exercise their power of increasing the general rate, or levying a special rate, when the proper tirno arrived. The resolution, was cayried, and the meeting then broke up,
