Mr J Sperry applied for permission for tenders for the triennial valuation to haveaccess to the "Valuation Roll.—Granted l '- BOROUGR VALUATION, • Sir Julius Yogel telegraphed to the Council intimating , tliat it was proposed to increase the rating limit of Boroughs from Jd to Id in the £, on the capital value, and asked the Council whether they would be prepared to adopt tho rating Act 1882" The Town Clerk stated that if the Government valuation was adopted it would, in some cases increase tho present assessment, and in other cases reduce, it, but the net result would be tho same as now. If the Rating Act 1882 were adopted it would simplify the collection of rates very much, On the motion of Cr Gapper seconded by Cr Hessoy, it was decided to adjourn the question till Tuesday next.
