In the House .of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone announced thai; the Government had rapeiyjad ,a further despatch from Sir Peter kurngden, hut it was not a reply to the enquiries made in the communication of the 10th inst., wherein the Government asked the British Commissioner, to report all the circumstances connected with the I'enjdeli incident, Sir Peter Linns' den's present despatch, Gladstone added, conflicted with the version of the affair recently published by the llussian Government . from Genera' Kornaroff, and t|i.o Cabjnet, therefore, must await further details before commu)ijeating the contents of Sir Peter LumsqWs despatch to the House.The statement made by jbhp Premier has caused a renewal of anxiety as to the probable result of theKnsso-Afghan difficulty.

. Messrs Lerin & Co have received a cable message from London, confirming the news that the Coptic had been chartered as a cruiser by the Admiralty. The Coptic is to come to Wellington without delay, and discharge all cargo here, and await orders from Home.
