New York Daily Witness, December 8 1879—" A very large audience gathered yesterday afternoon in the Brooklyn Rink to hoar the well-known tomperanco orator, the Hon. Samuel Capper, of England. Mr Capper held the unwearied attention of the assemblage for.nearly three-quarters of an hour. The many .excellent points of his address were illustrated by anecdotes told in a remarkably interesting manner, with vivid dramatic effect. The audience alternately laughed athis ludicrous mimicry, and were touched almost to tears by his pathetic appeals to their sense of duty in tlie presence of the all-destroying drink traffic. Mr Capper has the rare faculty of enlivening his arguments and exhortations in such a way that lps hearers cannot help listening, and of riveting in their minds some definite impressions which will remain there lung after the immediate occasion ims been forgotten."
