TELEGRAPHIC.
(united press association.) Wellington, This day. The Government is setting aside a block of land of 5000 acres at the foot of Mount Egmont for semi-military' settlement. These blocks may bo taken up in 100 acre sections by members of the'A.C. force of three years standing. Several blocks of land of two and three thousand acres each are being set aside throughout the colony for the police force, The conditions are that any member of the force aged 45, who has been ten years in the sorvice, may, if he desires it, retire and take up a section under the perpetual leasing system. These blocks are to be near markets, and easy of access by road or rail.
