Yesterday's meeting was vovy succesjiful from a racing point of view, the various events being decided solely on the horses merits. The best races of the day were the Hack and Cup events. We learn from Tinul this morning that the weather has opened out beautifully and a good day's meeting is anticipated, Pasha is considered the favorite for the District Handicap. They got away with a good start, going in a canter with Gunner leading up to first hurdle. Farewell started with the lead, but foil back to fourth.. Mfro then led with Lawrence second, running well. Half way round Farevell came up splendidly and ultimately collared Miro in the straight, and the two raced home neck and neck, and Farewell, shooting past the post, won by a head. Rollo still keeping in this way, the first round was reached. Pilgrimage then soon came to the front. Within a couple of hundred yards of the straight, Pasha overtook Rollo, and a splendid race ended by Pilgrimage coming in half a chain ahead, the same distance dividing the second and third horses. Rollo ran a splendid race, but the ground seemed rather too heavy for him. Petruehio took the lead with a fast pace and at the three-quarter mile Vagabond was second and Will-if-I-Can and Julia next. They ran this way till close to the straight when Will-if-I-Can collared the leader and won by two lengths. Julia also collared Vagabond in the straight and came in third, The winner who carried 2Alb overweight was loudly cheered. Totalisator £14,1 on winner; dividend, £12125.. The totalisator netted throughout the- day £462, £66 more than both days at last meeting.
